Why is there a Year on each set? Are they different each year?
When I originally created these late 1999, I wanted a quick way to be able to tell customers if they neeed to purchase updated cards, due to the annual possibility of NRHA changes to the patterns. I didn’t want anyone running the wrong pattern – hence the big year (“2021”) on the cover, and on each card front and back.
What happens if the NRHA or NRCHA changes the patterns
…and I just bought a 2020 year set?
So far, since I’ve been making these, the NRHA or NRCHA have rarely changed a pattern! Although the NRHA did add Pattern 11 in 2008, and Pattern 12 in 2011 and 13 in 2014 and 14 and 15 in 2015 (which became Youth Patterns A & B in 2016), and recently added 14, 15, and 16 in 2020. But, just in case, every year, I do offer price protection and free replacements to folks who buy sets after July 1st of each year. In the event you purchase a Set of cards late in the year, and the patterns change in January, we’ll send you the changed replacement cards for free!
…and I have a set made from years 2000 to 2020?
If you’ve owned a set for over a year, the replacement cost is $2.50 per card (includes free shipping!). So you won’t ever have to buy a completely new set of cards every year. How cool is that! I’ll post a notice on this website of the changed cards, and send you both an email – if your address is in my customer database. This is the best reason to join our mailing list!
How can I get notified if the NRHA or NRCHA changes the patterns?
Easy. You can check this website every year in October for the NRHA, and December 1 for the NRCHA – we usually get confirmation of the next years’ patterns after their respective fall board meetings. Also, you can be sure to get on our Mailing List by clicking the link below, and we will contact in the event there are any changes and you need to replace any cards.

Can I get a replacement for a lost or damaged card?
Sure! Go to our Orders page under Replacement Cards, and we’ll send you a new one for just $2.50. Limit two per customer generally, but if you’ve got special circumstances, just email me and we’ll work something out!
Do you sell these wholesale?
They are pretty pricey to make, so I only offer the Reiner’s Dozen Discount (Buy 12 sets and get 1 More Sets FREE). I really don’t want to produce a cheaper card – what I enjoy about selling these cards is the fact that they are super durable, offer great value as they last for years, and they are completely made in America (with the exception of the leather lacing – made in India, but I purchase it from a vendor in Indiana). The extra heavy duty laminate bodies really make the difference on these cards, as does our custom color coding which is color photo offset (not cheap inkjet) because of the pattern’s thin lines – to me, a cheap black and white xerox of the rulebook would have not been enough of an improvement to warrant folks spending good money for a set!
And they really do last – heck, I am still using my original “beta” card set that I made in 1999! So you do get the maximum bang for your buck, and I make enough to keep sliding plates on my one good reining horse. 🙂
