The well-known pair CD Highlights (High Brow CD X Go Little Starlight X Grays Starlight) and Randy Paul clinched the Open Bridle championship title after a coin toss broke the tie for first place.
Paul piloted Linda Katz’s 7-year-old stallion to a 146 in the rein work and 148 down the fence. The 294 composite score came with a $2,340 win check.
Intermediate Open Bridle
Winning $480 in the Intermediate Open Bridle was past NRCHA youth member and current NRCHA professional Wyatt Fisher, Paso Robles, California.
Fisher piloted Prize Winning Gal (Smokums Prize X Ill Be A Winning Gal X Ill Be Smart), owned by Jayson and Teresa Fisher, to a composite score of 294 (146 rein/148 cow).
Limited Open Bridle
The trip from Overbrook, Oklahoma, paid off Kaleigh King and her mare, Scootin Jule Lee (Scootin Boon X Angelina Jule Lee X Soula Jule Star).
The dynamic duo won the Limited Open Bridle with a composite score of 281 (141 rein/140 cow). The champion title is accompanied with a $1,300 paycheck.
This is the third premier event win in a row for King and Scootin Jule Lee.
The NRCHA Stallion Stakes is the second of four NRCHA premier events, and it pays out more than $600,000 in prize money. The event’s success is largely due to its tie to the NRCHA Subscribed Stallion program. Subscribed stallion nominators pay a fee so 4- and 5-year-old offspring can be eligible to compete in the limited aged event portion of the show. Besides paying lucrative checks to the Stakes winners, the NRCHA also presents an incentive checks to the nominator of the Stakes Champion’s sire in each division.
In addition to the Stakes divisions, the event offers a full slate of horse show classes, and several Spectaculars, including the $25,000 added Open Bridle Spectacular sponsored by Holy Cow Performance Horses.
